Welding and Onsite Services

Onsite and Mobile Welding

TIG, MIG and arc welding services brought to your Wellington site for repairs, modifications and structural work.

About this service

Some welding jobs cannot leave the site. A cracked steel beam, a broken gate hinge, a loose handrail post, a damaged trailer chassis. Our mobile welding service brings the workshop to you across the Wellington region with the right gear for the job.

Onsite and Mobile Welding

Our mobile rig handles TIG welding for stainless and aluminium, MIG welding for mild and structural steel, and arc welding for heavier repairs.

‍

Every job starts with an assessment of the failure mode. A simple weld up is fine for some failures. Others need a section cut out and replaced, with a new piece fabricated to spec rather than a quick patch.

‍

Self contained on site

We turn up with our own power, our own ventilation, our own fume control and our own fire watch protocols.

‍

On a busy commercial site that means no shutdown to your other trades. On a residential site that means no mess left behind.

‍

Repairs, modifications and call outs

Repairs, modifications, additions, retrofits and emergency call outs are all part of the service.

‍

Where the work needs engineer sign off, we coordinate with your structural engineer to deliver a result that is documented as well as welded.

Frequently asked questions

Who does mobile welding in Wellington?

The Fabricator. We run a self contained mobile welding rig out of our Kāpiti Coast workshop, covering Wellington City, Porirua, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, the Kāpiti Coast and the Wairarapa, for TIG, MIG and arc repairs on site.

‍

How fast can you get to me?

For repair work in greater Wellington we usually attend within two business days. Emergency call outs are available for true safety issues.

‍

Can you weld on a live commercial site?

Yes. We hold the necessary fire watch and hot works permits, and we coordinate with the site manager so other trades are not affected.

‍

Will the repair last?

A good repair lasts as long as the parent material. Where the failure is a sign of bigger trouble, we will say so and recommend the right longer term fix rather than a band aid.
